Turning 26? Stay covered.

Coming off a parent’s plan counts as losing coverage, so you can enroll in your own plan without waiting. If you have never bought insurance before, that is what the agent is for.

Two ways to get an answer today

What happens at 26

You can usually stay on a parent’s plan until you turn 26. Exactly when the coverage ends depends on the plan, so it is worth checking rather than assuming.

Whenever it ends, losing that coverage counts as a qualifying change and opens a window to enroll in your own plan.

On a budget

Financial assistance is based on income, which on an early-career salary often makes a real difference.

Never done this before

Normal. An agent goes over what the plans cover in plain language.

Open Enrollment runs November 1 to January 15.
